NAVY SUIT GIVEAWAY & BLOG

Style is how you make a statement without even speaking.   A statement about who you are as a person.   By the clothes you wear,  your telling people how you feel,  where you've been,  and where your going.  

With a navy blue suit there are several different statements that can be made.   The one I chose,  was more of a refined casual look.  

Typically as a rule of thumb,  outfits that are low in contrast tend to look more casual,  your blending in rather than standing out.  So far this suit combo,  I was wearing a darker shade of blue suit, so I wore a darker shade of brown shoe and belt.  And then I wore a lighter shade of pink to just add a bit if contrast,  but it wasn't much.   Pink is a very light color so unless your wearing a hot pink it's pretty easy to work with and it adds a nice bit of soft color.

Tie or no tie is up to you,  I chose not to wear a tie but a nice blue and pink plaid tie or a plaid pink and white would have gone nicely. Just be sure that the blue in the tie matches the blue in the suit.  And with this casual style always wear a skinny or narrow tie.

Shoes?  Brown,  or black are the best options for navy blue suits.   Brown being the best option,  black is nice but very formal (think military).   I chose a slip on brown shoe for this suit because I felt it looked more casual.   As a rule of thumb,  slip on shoes typically look more casual and laced shoes typically look more formal.  But there are exceptions to this rule.  For example,  a skinny fit blue suit could we worn with an all white pair of sneakers or with a pair of Sperrys to make it super relaxed and casual.  Also be sure to pay attention to how glossy the shoes are.   I wear more of a matte finish shoe when choosing to be casual,  a high glossed shoe tends to look more formal; as with a tuxedo.  Also,  I will match the texture of my shoe with my belt.  For this suit combo,  I chose I semi-matte finish shoe so I also wore a semi matte belt.
