BUTTON UP SHIRT

BUTTON UP SHIRT

One of the most well known and renown tips for fall dressing is undoubtedly layers. That way, when the temperature fluctuates throughout the day, you can be ready for whatever temperatures comes your way. Layering is a simple, effective way to add interest and detail into your outfit, without much effort beyond pairing great pieces together. There’s a simple formula that is followed by millions of people every day to achieve a put together, polished look.

Shirt (Button Up, Plain Henley, etc..) + Third Piece (Cardigan, Light Jacket, Over shirt) = Outfit

The third piece being the additional layer you put on beside just your shirt and pants. Usual third pieces are light layers that you can still slip a coat over in case you do need more protection from the dropping temperatures. Cardigans, light jackets (such as denim jackets, varsity jackets, windbreakers, etc), and over shirts (Thicker, fuller shirts than just a regular button up- nicknamed Shackets) all make great options to help you layer.

In this look, I followed the formula exactly for a put together final look. I started off with a seersucker white button up- choosing a textured shirt to give more interest. Next, I put on a basic grey cardigan over the shirt, and put the cuffs of the white shirt over the cardigan for a smart, thought out look. The pairing of the olive colored pants is an easy way to add fall color to the outfit. Olive is almost a traditional fall color, always reviving itself every year in the trendy fall color palettes.
