THE NAVY SUIT

THE NAVY SUIT

Trends and fads are a lot of fun to try and wear, but you can never go wrong with a classic. Classics should make up the majority of your wardrobe; classic staples that you can jazz up with trends. A navy suit is timeless, and can be worn a variety of ways. It is a piece that you shouldn’t buy on a budget- investing in a good navy suit is a worthy investment worth every penny.

The key to making the classic staples look modern and trendy is the art of accessorizing. Accessories can take your outfit from blah to bold. In this particular outfit, I chose to accessorize with modern items, bringing this classic suit into the present day. The tie is one of my all time favorite, and is a very bold pattern of rich maroons, greens, and navy. A multi color tie is a good idea to purchase, as you can match it with several outfit.

I also chose a light leather belt, and shoes to contrast against the dark color of the navy suit. Contrasting accessories is an easy way to add interest by showing a stark contrast. Light leather pieces in brown are a great way to spice up navy and other darker colored suits (such as olive or maroon). Black leather pieces are a good idea to pair with lighter grey suits, and other light patterned pieces. Dark charcoal and medium colored suits can go either way, and can just look just as sharp with either. While this is a rule of thumb I follow, you can always mix it up depending on the look you’re going for.
